How much time do you keep tissue out before you place them in fixative?
Tissue samples are commonly put into formalin within 30 minutes after surgical resection.
-
How much time do you fix your samples? What fixative do you use?
The surgically obtained tissue samples were stored in neutral formalin phosphate buffer for 24 hours, and then placed in a tissue processor and embedded in paraffin.
-
Do you offer fixed tissue microarrays? How many samples are on each tissue array?
Yes, we provide formalin fixed, paraffin embedded tissue microarray blocks, which can be used for high throughput immunohistochemical staining. We have 24 ~ 200 cores on each tissue array.
-
How are tissue slides processed?
所All tissues are fixed in 10% neutral formalin for 24-48 hours, dehydrated with gradient ethanol. cleared with xylene and embedded in paraffin. Subsequently, each slide is tested for quality control by immunohistochemistry and H&E staining.
-
How much time is there between tissue collection and fixation for surgical cases?
After surgery, the tissue samples will be placed in formalin right away and sent to the hospital pathology department that cooperates with our company.
-
Do we need to provide a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) when placing an order from Tissue Bank?
There is no MTA requirement for research and commercial use of our tissue related materials. If an individual researcher who needs to obtain the Institutional Review Board (IRB) to utilize human tissue samples for their research work, we can provide you with relevant documentation to help you obtain IRB consent.
-
What's the threshold of your tissue array standard?
We use the highest quality control standard to produce each whole tissue block and tissue array block, 90% of the tissue cores are effective on each slide. A valid core is not only staying half or higher intact, but also it is confirmed by our professional pathologist of its pathological features. That is to say, under 10% of cores fall off or missing, or become ineffective (e. g. cancer becomes normal). Actually, the majority of our tissue array slides have higher than 95% of effective cores in QC standards.
-
What's the minimum amount of tissue arrays for each order?
Two unstained paraffin tissue array slides per package.
-
What's the maximum amount of tissue arrays we can purchase?
There is no limit pending on the availability of our stock. The more you buy, the more discount you get. Please contact us for details.
-
Are the tissues used in making tissue arrays validated for immunohistochemistry studies?
Yes, they are. Two slides of every lot of tissue sections/arrays were examined by IHC of validating antigenicity in the tissue and combined with H&E staining of every 10th or 20th sections reviewed by pathologist.
-
What agreements and ethical considerations are used in the process of collecting tissue?
All tissue collection follows the highest ethical standards and the donors are informed with their consent. We follow ethical standards to protect the privacy of the donors. All human tissues are collected under HIPPA approved protocols. All animal tissues are collected under IACUC protocol. All samples have been tested negative for HIV and Hepatitis B unless specified positive viral infection in the specimens or their counterparts in animals, and approved for commercial product development.
-
what is the storage time for a tissue array slide
Our tissue slides will be baked at 60°C for 2 hours after sectioning by default or fresh (unbaked) on your request. There is no need to have a nitrogen bag or cover slides with a thick layer of paraffin. It is recommended the paraffin tissue arrays or whole tissue sections are kept in 4°C refrigerator with desiccated silicon gels for less than 3 months, in which period the antigenicity has no significant differences of losses in statistical analysis with comparison of fresh cut sections.
-
If we are not convinced with our product, before purchase can we try your tissue array?
We offer limited amount of trial slides, usually the catalog number with t at the end, pending availability. The trial slides are usually having 1/2 of regular price (depending on the numbers of cores, not meet with quality control, but no more than 30% of cores fall-off. They are good for titrating antibodies and testing antigen retrieving condition.
-
Do you offer custom arrays?
Yes, we offer custom arrays by using tissue blocks provided by customers. Currently we do not offer to produce custom arrays using tissue blocks from our tissue bank.
-
How can you make sure the tissue array cores are pathologically represented the original tissue block?
Tissue cores of 0.6 mm or above in diameter is sufficient to represent the whole tissue section, especially they were reviewed by qualified pathologists under microscope and circled for punching in donor blocks. Every 10 to 20th section of the tissue array is stained with H&E and reviewed by two well experienced pathologists to make sure the pathology diagnosis is current and matched to the adjacent serial sections.
